The Oakridge Community Church Discipleship Process

The four arrows that make up the circle represent four “umbrella” words that depict discipleship. The reason the four words make up a circle is that as followers of jesus, we are continually growing, serving, sharing, and investing over our lifetime. Each box contains examples that we have connected to the process to give an idea of ways to fulfill discipleship. Each of the examples noted in the boxes are what we are to continually be doing as disciples. The process is on-going and continual.

on-ramp to discipleship

As we see on the visual, a disciple is an individual who has entered the “On-Ramp” to discipleship. The box next to the On-ramp has examples of how this happens. They make a decision for Christ as Lord and Savior for salvation, they come to the church via invitation or special event, etc. The process must start somewhere.

grow

A disciple is one who, as the visual shows, is growing spiritually. This focuses on spiritual growth and developing a deeper understanding of God and our relationship and walk with Him. Examples given include Bible study, prayer, worship, etc.

Serve

We are, as believers, given spiritual gifts to be used in serving Christ. We are to look for places to serve. Included in that is discovering what our spiritual gifts are so that we can minister in areas that fit who we are.

share

We are all called to share the Good News about Christ. Invite people and participate in outreach opportunities and live daily as “salt and light” before the world.

Invest

We invest by giving of our time to minister to others. We also give of our material resources to further God’s work on earth.
